Description

The Paid Membership Plugin, Ecommerce, User Registration Form, Login Form, User Profile & Restrict Content plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 4.17.5. This is due to the registration handlers accepting a client-supplied form ID (signup_form_id, melange_id or pp_melange_id) without verifying that it belongs to a form displayed on the site, and using that ID to decide the new user's role. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to register through the ID of a different registration form, including one that is not published, and receive the role that form assigns or a role its role selector allows. Attackers can also submit form ID 0 or the tabbed widget flag so that form-specific checks, such as invite codes and CAPTCHA provided by add-ons, are not applied to registration and login. Exploitation requires user registration to be enabled, and a privilege gain requires another registration form that assigns a higher role.
