Description

The Real Cookie Banner: GDPR & ePrivacy Cookie Consent plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting in versions 3.4.13 up to, and including, 5.3.0. When the content blocker is active (the default once the cookie banner is enabled), the plugin post-processes every front-end page and strips its internal invisible marker attributes with a pattern that can also consume the closing quote of a neighbouring attribute value. Inert user-supplied text inside an HTML attribute, such as a title attribute in a published visitor comment, can thereby be turned into executable markup. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers on sites with open comments to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute whenever a user accesses the affected page.
