Description
The CMB2 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via stored field values rendered by its default field display output (admin list-table columns enabled with the 'column' field parameter, and display_cb output) in versions 2.2.2 up to, and including, 2.13.1 due to insufficient output escaping. The textarea_code display wrapped the raw stored value in an <xmp> element, and textarea_code values are saved without tag stripping, so a value containing '</xmp>' broke out of the wrapper; the default text and text_money displays also echoed values unescaped. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above, who can save fields in a CMB2 metabox registered by a theme or plugin, to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute whenever a user, such as an administrator viewing the post list, views the displayed field value. CMB2 registers no fields itself, so exploitation depends on the site's integration.
