Description

The SureDash plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via user name fields (first name, last name and display name, set through the profile update handler or the registration form) in all versions up to, and including, 1.12.0. The cause is insufficient input sanitization and unsafe client-side output: sanitize_text_field() leaves HTML-entity-encoded markup intact, and the plugin's front-end scripts decode the stored name and insert it as HTML (the likes tooltip copies the data-tooltip-description attribute into innerHTML, and the @mention user picker inserts the chosen name with insertHTML). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when another user hovers the like count of a post or comment the attacker liked, or selects the attacker in the mention picker. On sites with registration enabled, any visitor can create such an account.
