Description
The Folders plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to missing object-level capability checks in the folder item handlers (the folders-settings/v1 REST routes save-folder-items, bulk-folder-action, remove-post-from-folders and undo-folders-changes, and the earlier wcp_change_multiple_post_folder AJAX action) in all versions up to, and including, 3.2.1. The handlers checked only a nonce and a generic edit_posts capability (remove-post-from-folders checked no capability at all in 3.2.1) and never verified that the current user could edit each targeted post. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to add, move or remove the folder assignments of posts, pages and media they are not permitted to edit.
